You may not have “those” peaches of summer in a bowl right now, but here is a reminder of July and August days past. We buy the best peaches from a small, family farm in eastern Washington...Rama Farm. I first had their peaches fifteen years ago and I couldn’t believe what I was tasting! They make the drive over the mountains, from July to September, to Seattle’s farmer’s markets. Under a white tent, they set up small towers of boxes of their sweet, peachy-perfumed, beautiful, yummy fruit. Much anticipated by us city people, they sell out by noon every week.
Last August, our box was sitting on the floor and I sketched them right there and took some photographs to have the colors recorded. I punched up the color of the peaches and the box when I painted them…felt more juicy. From tree, to box, to sketchbook, to wall…even if they can’t be eaten…well, we did…in August!
